The bus, the pharmacy, the store, the elevator. Every door in that day stayed open for one reason. The Americans with Disabilities Act lets a trained Service Dog go with its handler into places the public can go. That covers stores, restaurants, hotels, government offices, hospitals and more. Staff have to allow the dog even where a no-pets sign hangs, because a Service Dog is not a pet under the law.

That is exactly why the morning check comes before the leash.
